An FPGA-based network system with service-uninterrupted remote functional update

The recent emergence of 5G network enables mass wireless sensors deployment for internet-of-things (IoT) applications. In many cases, IoT in monitoring and data collection applications are required to operate continuously active at all time (24/7) ensure sampled without loss. Field-programmable gate array (FPGA)-based systems exhibit a balanced processing throughput datapath flexibility. Specifically, flexibility is acquired from the FPGA-based system architecture that supports dynamic partial reconfiguration feature. However, device functional update can cause interruption application servicing, especially an system. This paper presents standalone allows remote causing service by adopting redundancy mechanism datapath. By utilizing reconfiguration, only updating temporarily inactive while rest circuitry, including redundant datapath, remain active. Hence, there no downtime when takes place due existence which critical communication systems. proposed has significant impact have little or tolerance interruption.
